Overview of Christianity
Outline of History
Restoration - God then brought the earth back to life during a six day period of restoration, and created man on the sixth day. Man did not exist during the time prior to this restoration. Adam and Eve became the very first humans with souls. This makes us different and higher than the animal realm.
Age of Innocence - the time when Adam and Eve lived in the Garden. Again the duration of their life in the Garden is subject to speculation. However, Christ is said to be the Second Adam, so one would expect that Christ would have lived in His first advent at least as long as Adam lived in the Garden, otherwise Satan would have complained that the comparison was unfair. Christ lived thirty years, and then had a ministry which was held under great temptation, for another three-and-a-half-years. So we could reasonable infer that Adam lived a similar length of time, with Satan tempting both, especially Eve, for a similar length of time. Adam and Eve failed in sin, Jesus did not.
Pre-flood Era - the time from the eviction from the Garden, to the Flood.
Age of the Patriarchs - the time from the post flood, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Age of the Israel - from the twelve sons of Jacob, renamed Israel, to the First Advent of Christ.
Church Age - an era that interrupts the Age of Israel, beginning fifty days after the Cross, at the Feast of Pentecost, until the Rapture. The Rapture is still a future event which has not yet occurred.
Tribulation - the final seven years of the Age of Israel. The period of ultimate judgment for humanity on this earth. This period begins immediately after the Rapture, and ends seven years later with the Second Advent of Christ.
Millennium - begins with the Second Advent of Christ, and continues for a period of one-thousand years.
Eternity - history finally ends with the final resurrections and judgments. The old universe is destroyed and a new universe is created and combined with heaven into one ultimate and permanent realm, and will continue on forever. All believers will be in this new universe/heaven realm forever, while all unbelievers including Satan and all of his angel followers, will be in the Lake of Fire forever.
